Read the care instructions on the label before laundering any blanket. You can machine-wash most acrylic and cotton blankets, while it‘s usually recommended that you dry-clean those made of wool. You can wash many types of electric blankets, though you should do so infrequently and follow instructions carefully
if your machine can’t accommodate a blanket, use one of the large machines at a coin laundry. Use the Gentle cycle, mild detergent, and warm water. Tumble-dry if the label recommends, or hang over two or more parallel clotheslines To prevent colors from running, hang striped blankets so the stripes run vertically.
If you are storing a blanket, launder it first. To ward off dust, wrap it in sheets or put it in a plastic bag, a pillowcase, or a blanket bag that you can purchase at most department stores. Add mothballs if the blanket is wool. Never fold an electric blanket when storing it because you can damage the heating elements. instead, lay it flat on a spare bed if you can.
